Writing up a review of the past year seems practically mandatory for bloggers. But what’s the point of a blog if not to pay attention to the things that happen …
Yep, it was a good year. When I looked through my photos from 2012, I started with “wow, was that just this year?”
How do you pick which events were the “highlights” of the year?
A lot of photos don’t show firsts for me, but firsts for people close to me. I was there when a group of people started a running or walking journey with Team In Training that ended with the Green Bay and San Diego marathons. Join us this year!
Flying a plane, watching the Boston marathon, and taking a road trip were awesome, no doubt. But many of my pictures were of guinea pigs and plants. And this smile (and these pies), even on an “ordinary” day, makes life bright.
I had forgotten how hot and dry it was mid-summer, even after a warm and wet spring. The garden didn’t do well, a lot of plants turned brown. But that summer is behind us now and another one will come later.
Dione got her road bike and rode it… she got her wetsuit and swam in the open water… we raced triathlons together. I didn’t need any firsts of my own to enjoy all that.
A lot is going to happen in 2013.
Some is planned, some will be unexpected.
- I’m going (back) to Disney world – to run my first half+full marathon
- There are going to be relationship changes
- I’m going (back) to the Ironman – with Dione
- “The Book” section of this site is going to get a lot hotter
As for resolutions, I’m not sure of the specifics yet, but it’ll likely include “kindness.” How about you?

I am SO excited for what 2013 has in store for all of us–what an incredible year ahead. So many wonderful events and celebrations–I simply can’t wait to see you go out and make a difference in the world! Cheers to a great 2013!
Sadly, that pitiful yard looks like a typical Texas summer yard.
But to everything else? High fives and hand claps! Here’s to an exciting 2013! Can’t wait to follow your journey!
